Lynchburg's iconic Crown Sterling restaurant set for a fiery revival as The Crown's Ember

THE CROWNS EMBER rendering 1

“What we’re working on here is the restoration and revitalization of Lynchburg’s iconic Crown Sterling,” England said. “We’re going to rename it ‘The Crown’s Ember,’ and that name is symbolic of the fact that we’re going to keep the charcoal grill in the center of the dining room and continue to cook steaks over live charcoal.”

Construction is being done to remodel and revitalize the building.

We’re going to do all we can to maintain some of the not only physical characteristics, but the dining experience and everything that you got with the original Crown Sterling,” he said.

England said the Crown Sterling was a staple in many Lynchburg residents’ lives and he wants to continue that with the Crown’s Ember.

“I myself came here as a child for birthdays, and in high school for proms and ring dances… so, we want to keep that experience that everybody had when they came to the Crown Sterling,” he said. “We want to keep that alive, but also bring some new flavor.”

The menu will keep many of the original items, with some added. England said they plan to age their steaks the same as before, as well as keep the same seasoning.

With the revitalization comes more seating options– including outdoor seating, as well as a bar and lounge area.

We want to have another 50 years of a great iconic restaurant here in Lynchburg,” he said.

England said construction is currently on schedule and should be completed by the end of 2023, with plans to open the restaurant in the first quarter of 2024.

With an amazing salad bar, this place has been my favorite place in town for a steak. Sadly, this Saturday will be their final day of operation. They will be missed not only by myself, but by a countless number of area residents. Hoping we'll be able to get a table for one last hurrah.

Great food with an intimate atmosphere! One of Lynchburg's gems, and around the same price or even cheaper than Outback Steakhouse. Definitely higher quality food and service!
